Shiver me timbers!

Blow me down!! I thought there is no longer any place in this shrinking world for pirates to operate lawlessly... how wrong am I!!

First it was a Saudi-owned supertanker, Sirius Star, carrying more than $100 million worth of crude oil.. (Hijacked supertanker drops anchor) and now a cargo ship, Delight, carrying 25 people and 36,000 tons of wheat that was flying under a Hong Kong flag... :O :O

The worst being, no one has an answer to these menaces... although it seemed that the West is trying to something about it... Western Navies May Get Tougher on Piracy After Tanker Seizure

With all the globalizations and shrinking of traveling time, there are still some goods that you would need to transport them using the "old" ways.. which are slow and cumbersome.. Unless someone derives a way to move these bulky but necessary goods/produce, we still have to rely on ships to get them to the places that require them.. If these shipping routes are sooooooo important, why isn't there anything done to ensure that they are safe??? Everyone has plenty to lose if something bad happens to these shipments.. One would think that security resources would be allocated to maintain the safety of these shipments.. :x

So for now, on top of the financial crisis and impending fear of a global recession, we have another problem to worry about... Where is the "self-proclaimed world sheriff" now when there is a REAL menace out there???
