My housemate (Aishah) and I came to Japan on the same flight more than 2 years ago.. There more than 20 Malaysians then.. Some left for Kansai (Kyoto, Osaka area) and a few went north.. Those who remained in Tokyo area were quite a tight bunch (me excluded, since I was pretty anti-social :p ).. Thus we organized a dinner for those in our batch over for a housewarming dinner last Tuesday..
The dinner was scheduled at 6pm.. A few couldn't make it as they had other prior appointments.. so all in all our small kitchen was the place we hosted 5 other Malaysians to a home-cooked Malaysian style dinner.. (or so I would assume, since I was the main chef.. :p ) It was just some simple dishes of chicken rendang, stir-fry vegetables, steamed fish and roti jala (by Aishah).
After dinner, we chatted and chatted.. We had agar-agar and my not-so-successful kuih lapis for dessert.. The guests brought a cake and some strawberries over too.. So we just sat there and chatted.. It was so good to be able to talk and laugh, using Manglish.. :p Then we gave them a tour of our rooms.. :) And finally we ended up in Aishah's room.. we just sat there and talk.. and talk.. and talk some more... and before we knew it, it was already 11pm..

On that day, it was raining the whole day.. yet, there we were, a bunch of Malaysians hanging out together, enjoying each others' company and companionship in a foreign land.. Somehow I felt warm and fuzzy inside long after all of them had left.. :)
